Press Kit Sam Reich Biography ![]() His keen interest in the vagaries of the Baseball Hall of Fame selection process developed while he was in law school in the late 1950's. Reich and his classmates pondered how, among so many highly achieving performers, judges could determine the few who would be honored. Today Sam Reich remains an avid baseball enthusiast and historian. He describes himself as a "mediocre attorney but one of the great little league managers of all time." In 2006, he collated years of personal research on the Hall of Fame selection process and developed a framework by which veteran candidates should be considered for Hall of Fame induction. He has collected this framework and supporting articles in his newly released book, Waiting for Cooperstown: Baseball’s Veterans (1901-1972). ![]() Reich has been a lawyer for more than four decades. He has served as a federal prosecutor, a criminal defense attorney, a law school professor, and a Bar Association president. He and his firm are active in sports law. One of Reich’s specialties has involved baseball salary arbitrations and he has provided services to many well-known baseball stars.
